   Ball Control

It is essential that a player new to the sport have ball control. Before any meaningful stroke play can take place, ball control coupled with an understanding of touch must be achieved.

The following exercises are intended to develop and demonstrate ball control.

1) Bouncing the ball on the forehand, attempt to achieve a uniform height.
2) Bouncing the ball on the backhand side, attempt to achieve a uniform height.
3) Bouncing the ball using each side of the bat alternately.
4) Repeat all exercises but with added movement, walking or slow jogging.

Try and do each exercise 20 times.

Success with and improvements from these exercises will be best achieved if the angle at the elbow is around 90 and a gap is kept between the elbow and the body.

Remember
You must be able to control the ball if you are to direct it!
