Gold for Grace

The Games were the 16th World Transplant Games, held in Bangkok, Thailand 25th August to 2nd September 2007.

Forty nine countries took part and the Games are unique in that all participants have received a life-saving transplant. Grace received a kidney transplant in 1999 and was selected to represent the United Kingdom due to her success in the British Transplant Games held in Bath 2006.

Grace entered the singles (veteran) event and the mixed doubles.

Grace won the Gold in the Singles and Bronze in the mixed doubles with Terry Wright from Plymouth.

Full results of the games can be found at:

The UK team were triumphant with a total of 293 medals.

Grace started playing table tennis in 2001 after watching fellow transplantee Sue Womble at her first Transplant Games. Grace joined Sue in training at Rugby Table Tennis Centre of Excellence and has won Gold in her age group every year since at the British Transplant Games. Grace was selected for her first World Transplant Games in Nancy, France 2003 where she failed to secure a medal. Two years later in London, Canada she won a Bronze in the Singles and a Silver in the Doubles with Sue Womble.
